Today I made some progress setting up the survival waves. I feel pretty good about the direction. I think I made the right decision to keep things simple by just using one map. I also looked at Boxhead: Zombie Warfare (one of my favorite flash games as a kid) for inspiration and I think I'm going to do what that game does and give the player weapons as they reach score thresholds.

It's simple enough.  Right now I need to keep simplifying so I can improve the gameplay. I realize I can't really have too many mechanics at all. I have to remove as many as I can, so I can at least get the ones that are already in there done right.

And there's a win condition now I guess.

Today I made a pretty big change.  I realized recently that the scale was still too big for this project. I was going to have to spend too much time making maps and testing them compared to working on the actual gameplay. So I cut the separate missions and pivoted. Now it is going to just be a isometric survival shooter experience. I'm still confident that it will be cool, because I'm going to do my best to make the equipment pieces and guns really fun. It was a good call I think. We'll see!

It is crazy how powerful pre-existing and FREE tools are. There is literally so much material out there you have to pay nothing beyond having a computer to use. So crazy.

Anyway, today I had a real solid session just working on adding in the sprinting animation. Blend Trees are super cool now that I understand them more. I'm looking into Mixing Transformations (?) to figure out how to incorporate firing/reloading animations on upper body regardless of what the lower body is doing.

Today I focused on making the ragdolls better. It really didn't get much better but it's a work in progress. Actually surprised I spent a whole two hours just trying to improve the ragdolls and they really didn't get better but whatevaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
