Makin' Maps

So I've decided to do a map system very similar to FTL. I don't feel like writing alot. But today I came up with my next to-do item, which is creating the map and triggering fights. Basically making the core game loop. I'm going to hardcode a lot an draw the things myself, no randomization. Just need to test the idea first.

I'm trying to take things just one step at a time and see what happens next.

I'm grateful I am canning the building system.

I'm Back Baby

I'm back.

Think I got too stressed. I have made some adjustments. Also I went on a trip to Thailand & Taiwan and it was a great vacation. 

Feel like I need to record the thought process here.

  • The building thing just doesn't work
  • The building thing is too much effort, not to mention itnegrating it with the combat gameplay and enemies
  • I want to focus on making cool stuff for the characters to do
  • the combat gameplay actually feels good
  • I need to emulate games like FTL & Jotun Bad North
As a result I'm canning the building feature and the deployment feature. I'm going to have the player travelling across a map similar to FTL. Their objective as far as I've figured is to deliver packages from one city / fort to another, in a dangerous world where on-foot travel is necessary for some reason.
