Man.
I have been going ham the last two days. Sometimes I am just struck with an intense obsession with working and this is just one of those times. I think it's because I know the deadline is coming up, and I want to do the best I can.
I still have plenty of time to get this thing done.
I guess the most immediate deadline is next week I'll need to release the Steam Page. Not a huge deal - but it is the very first marketing beat the game will have. I am concerned that it doesn't look good enough to inspire shoppers to wishlist if they happen to see it in "Newly Announced" or whatever the queue is. I mean I just want to encourage anybody who even sees the page to add a wishlist. And the better I can present the game, the more likely that will happen.
So, I'm just going to do my best. I am not going to hold back on this though - I have to keep stepping forward and getting it done. If I push these deadlines, I'm kind of shooting myself in the foot.
The game is neat and has a chance to be decent, of course it's still a work in progress, but I really like some of the things I've done for it. I like playing it a little bit - of course I am biased, but I do think it has certain charm. Is it enough charm to get anyone to buy it? Not sure. But, it's cool to me at least.
Today and yesterday I have been working on implementing more interesting abilities for each of the Motivation classes. It turned into a giant. Like literally a giant. A huge, massive thing that I had to fight for a few days straight. The thing is, the implementation of weapon-tied abilities was extremely rigid and spaghettified. And so I had to untangle this giant mess, and it's still not entirely untangled, but I am forging a much better system (hopefully) out of what I have untangled so far.
Tomorrow I'll need to wrap this work up. And then, it's on to prepping the Steam page as quickly and best as I can. I need to remember, it's really not a huge deal if it doesn't look amazing. It just needs to look decent. Next game I can do a better job hitting this first beat. But for this game, I'm not gonna sweat it so much that I shift the deadline - I can still hit release and Next Fest as best I can.
Hell yeah!
Here's a neat little screenshot.
