Time Worked: 2 hours
Did really well today. Got a little more professional and actually did a PR for my most recent work on Missions. I need to make sure I don't get too lazy, so can't just keep committing straight to the main branch.
Today I just implemented Missions as Scriptable Objects. So you can just specify what type, the reward, amount of enemies, etc. and the system will handle it. Which is great.
I've also developed and idea of the architecture of this project. There's two distinct sections of code with little overlap - the Mission and the Menu. Mission is the tactical gameplay, while Menu is the main menu where the meta gameplay takes place.
Feel good about myself because I got like 2 hours of work done on this so that's real good. I just know that if I'm going to be successful as a game dev, especially while working a full time job, I gotta put in the fuckin work man. You can't make games by just thinking about it, you gotta put in the work. So that's what I did.
I think today went really well because I worked out first thing, then I worked (and had a massive energy drink), and then I started working on my project. So it was nice having the workout out of the way so I didn't have to think about doing it later. I also think something that helped was working downstairs and being more chill about it.
Additionally. I didn't really turn off my timer of working as strictly. I use Clockify to help manage myself, to hold myself accountable and make sure I'm not just being lazy and I'm actually getting things done. But I think that I have been pretty strict about the timer and that maybe had been getting in my way by making me more stressed. So today if I went to talk to my wife or went to the bathroom, I didn't turn the timer off. And that resulted a not-never-ending period of work. Made me feel less like I was just not making any progress.
I dunno. It is important to be efficient and work hard, but on the other hand, if you're stressing all the time about it then you'll die early. And if you're dead you can't really do much can ya?
Respect to myself. I deserve it. I did well today, and this is all it takes. Keep that in mind: it's just the effort put in day after day, no need to stress. It will all come together. Just chill and do the work.
Here's the mission select screen. Because I feel like pictures make things better lol. Nothing crazy.
